Lavendula of Provence

After several years of intensive breeding, we can now present our first two selected varieties under the name Lavendula of Provence. The new varieties are Valensole (N) and Riez (N). They have been bred for early production in greenhouses, so they are sold from March in bud/flower right through to May. This makes them ideal for decorating consumers’ homes and can later be planted out.  Spring thus arrives early for consumers, along with the fantastic fragrance.

Lavendula of Provence is characterised by strong dark purple flowers, very long spikes and is extremely suitable for planting out, as it flowers again and again after cutting. Their foliage is grey-green and contrasts strongly with the very dark purple flowers.  Their scent is intense, which is why bees, butterflies and other insects flock to them.  At the same time, mosquitoes are deterred by the intense scent, as mosquitoes do not like this scent.

In addition to strong dark purple flowers and long spikes, breeding efforts have focused on health with resistance to fungi, robustness, strong uniform growth and the ability to rebloom. This gives the end user great pleasure in using our lavenders in pots and gardens throughout the summer.
